Anticoli Corrado, a Birthplace of Models

When in the Aniene Valley, you must visit Anticoli Corrado, a quaint hilltop village that became known for its attractive women. From the last Grand Tour through the 1950s, painters, sculptors and writers chose Anticoli Corrado as a place to live and practice their craft. Many artists married models from the village, some of whom even became successful painters and sculptors! These stories are told in the Civic Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art housed in the Palazzo Brancaccio. You do not want to miss out on this gem!

If you like walking and enjoying breathtaking landscapes, plan a hiking trip on the Monti Ruffi through mule tracks, pastures and springs. The trail connects Anticoli to Saracinesco, the highest village in the Giovenzano Valley located at an elevation of about 900 meters. This place is home to the open-air, widespread Museum of Time, which tells the different ways of measuring time through the works of various artists. An original and fun way to explore alleys and squares. Saracinesco is even more attractive in spring, when the lilacs spread their scent in the whole village!
