THE GIOVENZANO VALLEY
DO YOU ALREADY KNOW THE HISTORY
OF THE AEQUI?
Set off through oak and chestnut forests looking for the traces of the ancient tribe of the area, the Aequi. You will come across polygonal walls made up of giant boulder walls that used to protect upland villages. The Aequi were the “eternal enemies” of Rome, until they were subdued after centuries of battles. Visit the remnants of Trebula Suffenàs, ancient roman settlement and now part of a retro-style 1950s villa. Do not miss the great mosaic of Helle and Phrixus, preserved in the Civic Museum of Ciciliano.
